Please Help Support The Railblazers’
As many of you will know this year our club members Aoife Mc Carthy and Margaret Shaw have established our clubs first para hockey team, the Railblazers. The Railblazers cater for children with a wide range of intellectual disabilities from down syndrome to autism to cystic fibrosis. The Railblazers train once a week and have been taking part in blitzes with other clubs who have para hockey teams. This initiative has been hugely successful in the development of these children’s hockey, communication and social skills but mostly it has been extremely fun and enjoyable for all involved.
We got the exciting news earlier in the year that our Railblazers’ would have the unique opportunity to represent their country and travel to Barcelona to take part in a European Hockey Tournament playing against other countries. At this tournament those involved will be playing as part of the Irish Para Hockey Team with members from the other para hockey teams in Ireland at present also taking part.
There is huge excitement and anticipation about this trip from all of the children, their family members and their coaches. Four of our Railblazers will be putting on the green jersey and playing for their country in this unique opportunity in Barcelona this June.
We are reaching out to our members for your help to ensure that our Railblazers can avail of this trip and this amazing opportunity to play for their country. Please help us by donating what you can at the following link and help us to “Get The Railblazers To Barcelona” this June.
