Congratulations to all the CRLTC juniors who represented the club so well at the inaugural U12 Phoenix Open Tournament held at the club last weekend!

In particular to Max Morgan who reached the final of the Gold Event. Max’s determination and composure got him through some tough matches on the way to the final and he only narrowly missed out on winning the title. The match was decided by a final set championship tiebreaker, unfortunately Max couldn’t quite get over the line but he showed some serious potential in his maiden open event and continues to develop into a fine tennis player. Well done Max!

Also to Sasha O’Neill and Tímea Kovacs who squared off in the final of the girls Silver Event with Sasha eventually winning a match played in great spirit.

Many thanks to Nicola Guest for her help setting up the event. Also to Joanne O’Reilly and Ciaran Crowe who volunteered their free time to help run the tournament, all are huge assets to this club!

Also to Dave Cunningham and Derek Collins who made sure the grass courts were in great condition, many of the participants had never played on grass before and were delighted to get the opportunity to do so.

And finally to all the members who were so accommodating and allowed us to use the courts over the weekend.
