Table Tennis

Last December, Railway Union received a grant which covered 100% of the cost of 3 foldaway table tennis tables. These were used for some boys TT blitzes at different ages. The standard and enjoyment levels were very high. The action started at 2pm and continued until 9pm. Throughout the day teenagers and senior members and parents all took part. This undoubtedly added to the social activity in the clubhouse.

Conor Gallagher (16 years old) who is a Railway hockey member and also an Irish senior international table tennis player came down to give some tips to the youngsters who took part. Thanks very much Conor.

For Railway the best way of organising some Table Tennis for different groups of members is as follows: Teams and squads are encouraged to have a TT blitz / tournament amongst themselves. Make sure it doesn’t clash with any other users of the hall or bookings. i.e. Bridge/Indoor bowls and bookings in diary behind the bar. Liaise with Kenny Carroll re: moving the tables up and down and equipment.

Over time we can run club wide tournaments and social events for different ages etc. This is a very much a recreational/social and cross sport activity in Railway.
