To all our members and supporters,

This weekend sees the start of the 2016/2017 EY Hockey League with a double weekend for both our Ladies and Mens 1st XIs.  The team preparations have been progressing nicely and we have a number of new players across both teams to strengthen our squads.

On Saturday, the Ladies travel down the road to face local rivals Pembroke Wanderers who held us to a 0-0 draw at Serpentine Avenue last season followed by the visit to Park Avenue on Sunday of new entrants Belfast Harlequins.

The men have two home matches to start the EYHL and square up against Glenanne on Saturday followed by the visit of EYHL Champions Lisnagarvey on Sunday. Both matches finished 2-3 last season and the team is looking to reverse at least one of those scorelines next weekend.

 Coffee and Scones – Sunday

As a welcome back to the new EYHL Season, there will be free tea, coffee and scones for all our supporters in the clubhouse prior to the first EYHL match on Sunday.

The Supporters Club

As was the case last year, we will again this year be providing our Supporters and our Vice Presidents with the option of joining “the Supporters Club” which conveniently packages together a number of our events and initiatives throughout the year.  This enables our Vice Presidents and Supporters to reserve a place at our various lunches and events through a single payment at the start of the year. Please contact Siobhan Smyth or Brendan Smyth for more information.

EY Hockey League Match Entry Charge

This year the club will also be implementing the standard recommended entry fee for EYHL games of €5 per match which is being levied by many of the other participating clubs.  There will be no charge for any club member who has paid their subscription and entry will also be free for all schoolboys and schoolgirls.

Recognising the support we receive from our Vice Presidents and Supporters, we are making a discounted “Season Ticket” option available at a cost of €30.  This will entitle individuals to entry to all 18 home EYHL games.

To obtain your Season Ticket, please contact any of Siobhan or Brendan Smyth, Una McCarthy, Paul O’Brien or the Club Captains – Sarah McDonald and Graham O’Meara – or by emailing Club Secretary Aoife at clubsecretaryruhc@gmail.com
