Saturday’s game for the 1st team was away to Skerries. We went into the game 1 point behind Cym in the league. The bad news is that we lost the good news is that it made no difference to the league as CYM won 7-0 against Herbert park which made them uncatchable. Westmanstown beat Ierne 6-1 to end up 3 points behind us in 3rd place which makes the away win against Herbert Park with the amazing performance by Nigel’s rink in winning 39- 6 the pivotal point of our season . The final score on saturday was a 54 – 100 loss. So roll on next year and division 1. We all look forward to away games in Meath and Aer Lingus. But no team will be too excited about coming down to Railway.
Billy’s rink of Ultan, Fiachra and Zach did not start or finish well but they did win a point on the 10th, 11th,13th, 14th & 15th ends but ended up losing 5 – 25.
Adam’s rink of Ian, Tim and Carrick were well in the game and were 13 – 12 up after 15 ends. But dropped 10 shots in the next 3 ends to end the contest. The final score was 16 – 25.
Derek’s rink of Bryan, Gerry and Paul L won 9 of the 21 ends but couldn’t get the big count that could get them back into the game after a being 1 – 8 down after 5 ends. The final score was 13 – 25.
Nigel’s rink of Stephen, Frank and Dave  started well and were 15 – 5 up after 9 ends and gave us all some hope of a Herbert Park miracle. But Skerries are not Herbert Park and never allowed them to get away. With nothing to really play for and Xmas coming quickly a loss of concentration allowed Skerries back into it over the last 4 ends. Losing one shot on the final end to lose 20 – 21. In any other game this season they would have definitely taken home a point for us.
