On Saturday the 1st team had a good start to the season with an away win against Ierne a team who will be in the shakeup at the end of the season.
Billy’s rink of John Higgins, Joe and Jerry found themselves 11 – 1 down after 6 ends but fought back well and ended up loosing by 3 shots 18 – 21.
Derek’s rink of Paul, Frank and Zach raced into a 5 – 0 lead but then found themselves 11 – 16 down after 13 ends. They came back to be 4 down with 3 ends to play but ended up loosing 17 – 25.
Adam’s rink of Ian, Tim and Carrick had a tight start to the match and were 7 – 7 after 9 ends. They won the next 6 ends to build a lead of 16 – 7 before winning 24 – 11.
Nigel’s rink of Bryan, Viv and Ultan were 3 – 4 down after 5 ends before winning the next 11 ends to lead 34 – 4. The final score was 37 – 7.
So a 99 shots to 64 shots total and a 5 points to 2 win. A great start to the season. The next game is on Saturday 23rd of April in Railway against CYM.
The seconds started their season on Monday at home to Blackrock with a 47 shots to 36 shots win. 5 points to 1.
Pat Coady’s rink of Graham, Smithy and Tim were 7 – 7 after 10 ends but got a bit tired then and ended up losing 8 – 17 to a good Blackrock rink whose ship was inspired on the night.
Nigel’s ring of Brian, John Mellon and Tony were 2 down after the 1st end but won the next 8 ends to lead 15 – 2. They were always in control and won 19 shots to 7 shots in the end.
Carrick’s rink of Paul k, Rory and Drew rushed to a 12 – 2 lead after 7 ends before they decided to make a game of it and allowed Blackrock to get back to 15 – 12 after 15 ends before pushing on to win 20 – 12.
All in all a very satisfactory start to the new season
