Many of you who spent time in Railway during the 80s will have fond memories of Gavin. Alongside his brother Aongus and his Dad (also called Gavin), he played cricket and hockey, made friends, and drove like Niki Lauda between the sports fields of Dublin. Sadly, after a long brave battle with cancer Gavin passed away at St Vincent’s Private Hospital on Tuesday.
Gavin retired early from playing sport to concentrate on his music career. He became a very accomplished guitarist and producer. He played guitar with The Waterboys, Sharon Shannon and Picture House, and produced recordings for Ronnie Drew, Bagatelle and The Receipts, as well as The Coronas’ first ever studio session.
Beloved husband, father, son, brother he will be missed by his beautiful wife Sinéad, kids Meabh and Donie (Murray), his parents Seosaimhin (Ní Bheaglaoich) Gavin Ralston SC, Joanne, brother Aongus, nephew Séan, Muintir Bheaglaoich and all his many friends and extended family worldwide.
Reposing on Wednesday evening (25th September) at Fanagans Funeral Home, Dundrum between 5.30 and 7.30 pm.
