Railway Makes Hay
Its been a glorious week for cricket in Leinster; we made hay while the sun shone with wins for our our 1st,
, Boys U11, and Boys U15 teams.
The only defeat of the week was in the Division 1 clash with Clontarf at Park Avenue. KED Carroll continued his rich vein of form scoring 133 not out in a first innings total of 252. Kenny has now scored 492 runs this season at an average of 123. Despite a fine second spell of aggressive fast bowling by Charith Fernando (3-45) Clontarf got home with five wickets to spare in the last over.
In another last over finish the 3rd XI beat YMCA in the Middle Cup at Claremont Road. Alex Stiles with 66 and Eoghan Grehan with 3 wickets and 20 not out to bring us home were Railways standout performers in a big team performance.
We chased 220 in 40 overs with 7 wickets down.
The 4s beat Castleknock by 4 wickets on Monday. Man of the match Raza took 4 for 21 from his 8 overs and then 51 not out to see Railway home .
Our U 15 boys team along have had a brilliant start to the season winning their first two matches. The U 11s won a very enjoyable cup match away in North County. There were some great performances on both teams.
