Sports Club EGM to be held via virtual meeting on
Wednesday 19 January 2022

The Management Committee received on 6 December 2021 a Notice to call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) for the purpose of replacing the Sport Club’s existing Constitution with a new Constitution.

Further information has been provided to Sports Secretaries to be disseminated to their members.  The Management Committee asks members to liaise with their Sports Secretary, familiarise themselves with the proposed changes and attend the EGM in January to vote on the proposal.

The proposal and new Constitution will:

Introduce a new ‘per Sport’ funding model in place of the existing individual member subscription system; and
Introduce a new voting model allocating weighted voting rights to our Sports in place of the existing adult member voting structure.

Over the past year or so, discussions have been taking place as to how the Sports Club might develop an alternative long term and sustainable funding model. As you will be aware from the discussions at our recent Annual General Meetings, the Sports Club’s finances need to be placed on a more solid

The proposal which is to be voted upon at the EGM has been developed by a workgroup from our Hockey, Rugby and Tennis Sports. Whilst the detail within the proposal has not been developed by the Management Committee itself, the proposal has the support of five of our seven sports.

Please liaise with your Sports Secretary, familiarise yourself with the proposed changes and attend the EGM in January to vote on the proposal.

Food Market at Railway Union every Wednesday and Saturday

Since the end of February 2021, the club has been successfully hosting a food market every Wednesday morning (8am onwards) and Saturday (9am onwards) in the clubs grounds.

The support from local residents and members over the past few months has been terrific and the quality of the food available has been excellent.

A wide range of fresh and organic produce is available including Kilmore Quay fish, organic cheese, organic butcher, organic fruit and veg, freshly baked bread and delicious Italian goods, jams, oils, sauces and flowers. There’s also barista coffee and freshly baked biscuits for those who just wish to linger a little in the open air.

The car park is closed on these dates to facilitate the market and those who can are encouraged to travel on foot or by bike.
