Railway Union Sports Club
Food Market at Railway Union every Wednesday and Saturday
Since the end of February, the club has been successfully hosting a food market every Wednesday morning (8am onwards) and Saturday (9am onwards) in the clubs grounds. The support from local residents and members over the past few months has been terrific and the quality of the food available has been excellent.
A wide range of fresh and organic produce is available including Kilmore Quay fish, organic cheese, organic butcher, organic fruit and veg, freshly baked bread and delicious Italian goods, jams, oils, sauces and flowers. There’s also barista coffee and freshly baked biscuits for those who just wish to linger a little in the open air.
Now that the travel restrictions have been relaxed a little, we are making our wider membership more aware of the market, so feel free to drop in.
The car park is closed on these dates to facilitate the market and those who can are encouraged to travel on foot or by bike. org
Don Byrne, RIP 19 October 2020
The family of Don Byrne would like to thank the community of Railway Union for their many messages of condolence on his recent sad passing. We were very touched by all the calls, cards and messages we received which were a great source of comfort to us at a difficult time.
Don was a long time member of Railway playing hockey, tennis, bowls and trying his hand at other sports too over the years. He also greatly enjoyed the apres-match activities and the away trips and organising table quizzes. He made many friends of long standing in Railway and it was a big part of his life. The fact that it was always sunny in Railway for weekend matches while it was lashing raining at home in Dundrum was a mystery to us over the years and even got a mention in his eulogy. He tried to encourage the next generations to follow in his sporting footsteps and some of his grandsons played hockey in Railway and he loved going to see them.
Due to the current restrictions in these difficult times we could not have the send off for Don we would have wanted. Thank you again to all at Railway for your kindness and memories of Don.
Helene, Don’s wife, and children Rachel, Joanne, Gavin, Laura and Clare and seven grandchildren.
